The Finance and Accounting Director is responsible for strategically managing all aspects of the finance, accounting, and HR functions of the Tunisia field office including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash management, local taxation, and audit management, as well as providing associated analysis. The F&A director reports directly to the Country Director and is in direct contact with the Regional Finance Director and HQ Controller.

AMIDEAST is a private non-profit, non-governmental organization that serves Tunisia through two offices in Tunis and Sousse that offer a variety of educational and training services for students of all ages, professionals, corporate clients, and governmental agencies. Services include English language and professional skills training, testing and test preparation, and scholarship and exchange program administration.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the F&A Director include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for all field office accounting including monthly closing process, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and monthly reconciliation activities. All to be completed in a timely manner and in accordance with HQ standardized processes. Ensure that monthly staff timesheets are signed and approved in a timely manner. Work closely with HQ Controller and Regional Finance Director in response to external audits, as well as with our internal auditor and internal audits. Support development of AMIDEAST’s field office annual operating budget, rolling forecasts, and related internal management an operational reporting. Participate in the proposal pricing process as a key member of proposal team. Work closely with HQ treasury department to effectively prepare accurate cash forecasts and weekly cash positions. Prepare financial reports as required for program sponsors in coordination with HQ accounting and HQ contracts and grants departments. Assure financial compliance with contract and grant regulations. Serve as a liaison with bank on operational matters, prepare and transmit domestic and international wires Monitor and review field office functional and program financial performance keeping management abreast of current and projected performance and trends. Maximize the use of our transactional accounting system-Deltek Costpoint- as well as the AMIDEAST’s proprietary SRA (point of sale system). Oversee training and development of accounting and HR staff as required Other accounting / finance / HR and analysis duties as assigned. Demonstrate world class cultural attributes and behaviors in all interactions with country directors, project managers, department heads, and senior staff. Stay up to date on, and ensure compliance with, local tax codes. Manage approximately four accounting and HR staff.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in a relevant financial discipline A minimum of 8-10 years experience in an accounting/finance environment CPA or CPA candidate preferred Written and spoken proficiency in English- minimum TOEIC score of 850 Working knowledge of financial management of non-profit organizations, including FASB and United States GAAP rules. Understanding of OMB Circulars A-110 and A-122 preferred Experience with conducting or participating in financial audits System and excel skills required Good analytical skills Team player with good communication and leadership skills.
